Looking for down tuned pure heavy metal/melodic death-thrash in the same vein as Mercenary, Bullet For My Valentine, and maybe also Raunchy and Chimaira? Then look no further.

CHIRAW from the Netherlands was formed in 2006 and have released an EP and now this full-length album called ‘Dark Frequencies’ and CHIRAW and this album will kick your ass, be sure about that.

The music is down tuned and heavy, as written above, but still filled with aggression and energy. The riffs will make you drool and smile at the same time. The riffs will kick you in your face. The riffs will take control of you. The riffs will punch you in your stomach. The riffs will make you head-bang like crazy. The riffs will make your neighbours call the police.

The vocals shift from aggressive to growls to clean. The choruses are done in the Gothenburg-way with lots of melody, but not sappy in any way. The production is heavy and powerful, just the way I like it.

‘Dark Frequencies’ hasn’t left my hard-tried and exhausted CD-player for days. When the CD is done I simply press play once again. If you buy this CD I think you will do the same.

The more established bands should take notice and they should better beware, because CHIRAW could very well blow them all off stage.

Heavy... AND excellent. Buy or die :)
