It is really hard to put a band like Charing Cross
down, they do everything well. The song writing is good, the musicianship is up
to par, the production is fine and so on, but...
It has all been done before with much better results. Melodic
metal songs need to be catchy and memorable, and should leave a lasting
impression; the chorus should stick in your mind for days. Even after numerous spins
nothing sticks with me, so I am left a little disappointed by Charing Cross.
It's not like they are bad musicians or write bad songs, the
magic is just missing and the songs never manage to sparkle and shine...'We
Are... Charing Cross' is as solid as concrete, and the only way is up for them,
because they do have the potential to go places with their songs. On this
occasion they have done enough to entertain me and to make me keep an eye on
their progress in the future...
