Bob
Catley has one the best voices in melodic rock, and no matter, who has written the
songs for his solo albums: Gary Hughes, Paul Hodson, Vince O'Regan, Dave
Thompson and Paul Uttley, or in this case Magnus Karlsson (Starbreaker, Allen/Lande),
they all seem to be able to get a stellar performance from Bob Catley.
Being a
longstanding Magnum fan I think it's great that Bob has room and the energy to
have a solo-career running at the same time. With his solo album he get a chance
to explore new things and show his versatility, and 'Immortal' is up to par with
my favourite Bob Catley albums 'Legends' and 'Middle Earth', returning to
more symphonic and epic compositions.
Magnus
Karlsson has once more written some great songs that compliments the vocalist
perfectly - just like he did on the two Allen/Lande albums, and if you take the
atmosphere from any Magnum album and pair it with Bob's early solo albums, you
will have a pretty good idea of what to expect here...
Another
fine solo album from Mr. Catley absolutely worth checking out!
