This record will be remembered for having the worst and best classical cover song of all times. The funny thing is, it’s the same song. I’ve never experienced a piece of fantastical opera being raped so thoroughly before. This is musical snuff! And the best part: Manowars version seem like complete crap, when compared to this brutal grindcore edition. Puccini will be spinning around in his grave with 200 mph. Nessum Dorma will never be the same. Please don’t mind my gibberish, I’m just laughing so hard, its hard to concentrate on writing…
Generally humor seems to be the most important part of Cadaveric Crematorium’s “art”. Humor and gore. Hugore! And it is really funny. During the album – named Grindpeace! – you learn that cozy rock n’ roll riffs, operatic idiocy and sound samples from Quake all fit brilliantly into the fray of flying guts and fermented bile (you know, the normal stuff of grindcore).
The music is great if you like the death metal/grindcore of more serious bands like Illdisposed, Napalm Death and Torture Killer. Cadaveric Crematorium is not precisely like any of these bands, but rather their a sort of hyperactive child of those three mad fathers, with a severe Tourrette syndrome. The “lyrical” work is more in the style of Gorerotted and Anal Cunt, than anything else, but still fairly unique. And fucking hilarious! If you’re not gravely serious about music: Go fetch!
The artwork deserves special mention: Although not of high aesthetic value or technical superiority (whatever metal cover is!?) its still one of the most wicked and nausea-inducing examples I’ve seen. Like the music it comes with a twist... Have fun with the HUGORE!
