This very
impressive self released debut full length from Broadmoor from Aalborg,
Denmark could easily pass as a regular release, from the impressive cover
artwork done by Mattias Norén thru the first class musical offerings and ending
with a great production.
The
cornerstones are in place, and the band has done everything in their power to
convince the listeners that this is more than your average progressive metal
release. Ten songs played with emotion and conviction by a band that stays on
the path chosen. Within the confines of their sound they have created ten gems
that are deep and varied, have just the right amount of power and finesse to get
and keep your attention and all are played at a high technical level.
Broadmoor
has the skills to mess with the best and has the songs to prove it. Musically
they are influences come from the classic icons like Queensr˙che and Symphonic X
as well as the Scandinavian branch of Progressive Metal; Pain of
Salvation, Wuthering Heights, Circus Maximus, Twilight and Tears of Anger to
name a few, but aren't as symphonic as some of their counterparts and they do
try to carve their own little niche musically as well as soundwise and with
success I might add.
With this
stunning album from this talented and promising new band the year ends on a high note, and Broadmoor proves that
Denmark does have something to offer when it comes to Progressive Metal. Well done lads!
