Bride
Skin for Skin
Rating
Style: Heavy rock/metal
Release date: July 7th 2008

Releasing the CD on 7-7-08 in Europe is one year to late (7-7-07 would have been a better date). Bride is a Christian related band, but they are fortunately enough not preaching. The lyrics are about serious subjects such as racism, war, evil in the world etc. etc. The band was founded in the mid eighties and has released several records since.

Their most prosperous period was about 10 years ago when they did an international tour and had just released 'Snakes in the Playground' and 'Scarecrow Messiah'. Their latest one, 'Skin for Skin' was already released in the US in 2006. Retroactive takes care of the European release 2 years later.

The tracks on this album are good old dirty and nasty played rock/metal songs. In several songs there are bluesy influences. Dale Thompson's vocals are sometimes raw, sometimes more clean. His brother Troy does a good job on the guitar, but what else could we expect from a band with more than 20 years of experience?

Although the music is very listenable, I never get the feeling that I missed something in the last 20 years by not knowing the band. The songs and music are not exceptional enough. Hear them out and judge yourself.
