Canadian band Bison B.C. is not very known yet, but now they have been signed to Metal Blade Records, so maybe things are going to change now? Their music can be described as heavy and also very groovy. You hear a melting pot of doom, stoner, thrash, hardcore, retro, traditional metal and elements of the 70's and 80's.

The song "Dark Towers" is a kind of thrash song with a punk undertone, also in "Wendigo pt.2 there are some heavy thrash parts. The guitar solo in "Wendigo pt.1" is another a hug for your ears. In "Slow Hand of Death" the band gets help from vocalist Jamie Hopper (3 Inches of Blood) with his well-known screams and the Maiden part in it is great as well. Are there no negative things on this record? Well, a song like "These are My Dress Clothes" is too long and should have quit after 4 minutes.

Several times the band Mastodon came to mind during my listening, as well as Metallica, Black Sabbath, Motorhead, Maiden, Venom and several stoner bands leave their influences behind. A rather typical band, I am very curious if they will be picked up by a bigger crowd.

Check them out and be your own judge.
