This record was officially released in the U.S.A. somewhere in 2007. The band is touring through Europe half-way thru October and early November. 'Messengers' is their third album, but it sounds as if they have a lot more on their record. August Burns Red is one of the many, many, many bands that play metalcore. If you want to stand out in the crowd you have to shine, otherwise you will drown a certain death.

August Burns Red is one of the bands that actually can survive. They play very aggressive, brutal, with passion and have a very technical style. If you like the first track, you'll dig the rest as well. The nice guitar part at the end makes this song just that little better than the average metalcore track. Some comparisons with a band like As I Lay Dying are there. What also make August Burns Red a little different from the flock are the many tempo changes and breakdowns in a track like "Black Sheep". My biggest problem with the record is the lack of guitar solos that would just be the icing on the cake.

Although I'm almost fed up with all the metalcore releases, this one is a record that still gave me pleasure listening to. For me they have set the standard, every new metalcore album that can't compete with this one is a waste of time.
