Alternine is a young and very ambitious band from France, I believe this is their first demo, and I would be caught by surprise if the band is still without a label within a year.

They play solid rock with some atmospheric metal-elements, which sometimes reminds me a bit of Muse. This is not really my favourite genre, anyways I enjoyed the four tracks the demo has to offer quite a lot. The two guitarists (Durand and Picot) add a lot of energy to the sound, and they are in my opinion the tour de force of the band. The vocals are handled by Laetitia Jehanno, who’s calm and feminine style is soaring nicely above the soundscape, the band doesn’t use any kind of multi-layered choruses in their songs and doesn’t get pompous add any times, which adds a certain kind of authenticity to the overall sound.

The production is extremely good for a demo, and it could easily be the sound for a final album. All four tracks are of high quality song-writing, and with every second of the demo you can feel how passionate the band is with their music, which sometimes borderlines into a ambient sort of sound. I would recommend everybody who likes modern rock with a soul, to check out the bands webpage, where they have the whole demo on a playlist.

The band has without a doubt worked really hard with this demo, I hope for them they will succeed in finding a label, because the have really succeeded in producing four songs of solid and honest modern rock.

Thumbs up!
