The AOR segment is very limited and most bands creates their music using the same formula. Alliance surely belong among the very best in this genre, but the problem is for them like all other bands the very narrow limits within the genre.

"Road to Heaven" is one the best pure AOR albums in a long time, but the album falls into the same trap all AOR bands fall into. Very skilful musicians, capable of writing very catchy songs, wrapped in an excellent sound and packed with blistering guitar work, but where is the unexpected in the music? Nowhere! I feel the genre has backed itself into a corner with nowhere to go...

A sure buy for genre fans; everyone else, listen very carefully before you buy this one.
