Symphorce
Become Death
Rating
Style: Modern Power Metal
Release date: February 23rd 2007

About eight years ago Andy B. Franck (Brainstorm) formed Symphorce and “Become Death” is their sixth album. They have toured several times with the likes of Mercyful Fate, Kamelot, Grave Digger and Sonata Arctica. I have always been a big fan of Andy’s work with Brainstorm but I never really been a huge Symphorce fan.

And this album doesn’t really do anything for me.

Ok, musically all ten tracks are executed on a very high level, performed by a band that certainly spent a lot of time in the writing of this release. Dennis Ward’s production is strong as usual but the album is far too modern for me, there’s even new metal riffs (aaaarrrgghhh). The only thing that lifts this album is Andy’s world-class singing, and I am really looking forward to the new Brainstorm album.

I want traditional heavy metal not this modern crap. All in all not an album for an ignorant like myself.

Next.
