In each and every little sub-genre of rock there will always be room for and there will always be bands like Jaded Heart. You kind of know what to expect, and you know that the band will deliver a solid effort on a regular basis.

This German Swedish collaboration has once more created an album that has all of the trademarks a melodic rock fan look for, the song writing is solid and the technical level is high. But on the other hand this will never set the World alight either...

Jaded Heart is still all about well crafted melodic hard rock; the sound has gotten a bit rougher and harder around the edges since the days when the Bormann brothers - Michael on vocals and Dirk on guitars - were a big part of the band. The two Swedes Johan Fahlberg and Peter Östros have successfully replaced them on vocals and guitars respectively, and the change has given the band a harder sounding edge.

'Sinister Mind' surely won't win many awards and this album contains exactly what I thought it would; melodic and catchy hard rock with some great guitar work, superbly wrapped into a great production done by some of the best in the business: Michael Voss, Chris Lausmann and Dennis Ward. The album might need a few spins to fully open up, but as soon as you've grown familiar with their more modern style, then you're in for a smooth journey through the airwaves presented by Jaded Heart.

'Sinister Mind' won't catch you with your guards down, but on the other hand you can easily find worse efforts than this, and it's actually quite entertaining without ever being excellent. My personal favourites include: "Justice is deserved", "See the Light", "Open Your Eyes" and "Always on my Mind ", but the rest is solid as well and worth listening to also...

Trustworthy!
