Autumn
My New Time
Rating
Style: Hard Rock / Gothic with female vocals
Release date: May 7th 2007

Autumn is a Dutch gothic band, and 'My New Time' is their third release. I’ve never heard of them before. There are six members in the band: Nienke De Jong on vocals, and some other musicians. The sound production is OK, but somehow this album fails to turn me on in any way.

Although there are some passages that briefly resemble energy and groovyness, the album as a whole leaves a lasting impression on me as the famous finger pulled from a glass of water. It’s all radio blah-blah.

I wish that I could say something interesting about this album, but to me there really isn't anything. It's just Gothic inspired Hard Rock, and that's all this album is. It doesn't bring anything new, and it doesn't tribute the old either. It's just there. Harmless filler.

It’s not that there is anything wrong with the songs or the music. Not at all. The band could easily be contenders in the Eurovision Song Contest with Nienkes soft soothing vocals and their moody keyboard arrangements. It’s all very safe and predictable – like an actual autumn.
