"Building up the Apathy" is the third album from Finnish band Silent Voices, but the first one to cross my path. So going into this adventure with a clean sheet, and no expectations I must admit, that I am not overly impressed.

Eight well played progressive metal songs, a decent production, that lacks transparency resulting in a somewhat muddy sound. All eight songs crosses the 6-minutes mark, and there are some pretty good songs like "Hollowed" - a very good ballad and the song where vocalist Michael Henneken impresses me the most. Last song of the album: "Into the Flow", which also happens to be the longest and most epic track as well we get some indications of what Silent Voices are capable of.

But sadly most of the songs drift off into mediocrity, and I am not a huge fan of Michael Henneken, he is simply not my kind of progressive metal vocalist. Hopefully I haven't scarred you totally off, because I think you should at least give these Finnish guys a listen...
