Obscenity from Oldenburg, Germany have been playing classic Death Metal since their formation in 1989 and now they are about to release a brand new album called “Where Sinners Bleed”… their 7th album, by the way.

At first I was a little disappointed with this release mostly due to the production… We are talking serious ass kicking brutal Death Metal here… and in my humble opinion this kind of Metal needs a “Heavy” production. The problem I have with this album is that I find the guitars are sounding too… “thin”… well maybe I’m a jerk… but the production could have been more… “dark and heavy”!

The music here on “Where Sinners Bleed” is very typical Death Metal and this album needed a few spins to grow on me… but now I like it a lot. Obscenity reminds me quite a lot of Cannibal Corpse and their music is mostly up tempo brutal Death Metal but not neglecting speed changes and also with very melodic middle parts, to elude the one dimensionality of pure heaviness.

This album is not exactly groundbreaking in any way just good Death Metal in its purest form, to put it simply. Just think music not unlike Cannibal Corpse and I think you have a pretty good feeling of what Obscenity stands for.

Do check this album out if you are into pure Death Metal!
