Abbath from the so-so defunct Immortal fronts the Norwegian supergroup I. The band consists of members of Enslaved, SAHG and as mentioned Immortal, and therefore should guarantee us a first-class album.

‘Between Two Worlds’ is in many ways a good album. It certainly has the very positive effect on me that I really feel like getting my old Bathory CD’s out of the closet again.

Give and take bits and pieces, ‘Between Two Worlds’ could, in fact, be the next Bathory album. The feeling, the sound, the lyrical universe is so close that it’s almost too much.

Although I enjoy listening to the album, I can’t shake the feeling that this is too easy and that there’s absolutely nothing new under the sun even though, given the fact that I has been labelled a supergroup, there ought to have been a lot of new in there.

Recommended: Bathory’s ‘Blood Fire Death’, ‘Hammerheart’ and ‘Twilight of the Gods’
