Hi, first off all I just want to congratulate you with your new album “Profondo Rozzo”.
Are you satisfied with it?
Ciao Peter! Thank you so much for the great review and for your congratulations! Yes, I’m totally satisfied with our new album “Profondo Rozzo”. It took 4 years of sweat, blood, tears, line up changes and a great variety of problems and delays. But now the album is out, and we’re happy with the songs, production, artwork, lyrics and everything. And the reviews are great worldwide!
What's the actual goal you want to achieve through the “Profondo Rozzo” release?
Subhuman don’t want to play nothing revolutionary: we play extreme Metal, a music that try to combine Thrash grooves and Death brutality. Something intense, interesting, technically demanding and realized in a professional way. We made our best, and we hope every metalheads out there will like our sound...
Will you stick to this sound on the next album, too, or will there be changes to the SUBHUMAN Sound?
I don’t believe we’ll play a different kind of music on the next album: We’ll continue to play fast, technical and neck snapping Thrash Death Metal. But we’ll try to increase the personality and variety of our songs.
How long do you need to practice to feel comfortable with your songs before you record them?
Our songs are not so easy to play: They are fast and articulated and need to be perfectly performed to sound powerful and aggressive. So it took some rehearsal to play them in a good way.
Who has produced and mixed your new album?
The album has been produced by Paso at Studio73 in Ravenna (Italy): It’s the best recording studio in Italy for Metal and, since we wanted the best, we recorded there... We wanted a modern sound but “organic”, not super bombastic as the one of many Death Core albums of today. I think Paso has been very good in realizing the sound we had in our head.
Who has done the cover artwork to the album?
An Italian artist made it: his name is Manuel Bravi. A friend of mine suggested me to contact him and as I seen his portfolio, I contacted him immediately! I think he made an excellent work: The artwork is evil and disturbing without falling in splatter clichčes.
What are the best and worst trends in metal today?
I don’t like extreme music trend of the last 3-4 years. I hear astonishing technical skills, but really poor songwriting...
What tasks presently lie ahead for SUBHUMAN
Nothing particular... We’re writing some new songs for the second album and we try to play as much shows as possible. Maybe we’ll make a video clip of a “Profondo Rozzo” song.
I thank you very much for participating in this interview and sharing this information and your thoughts with us - these last lines are entirely for you. Any final words you would like to round off with - a tip, a recommendation or a thought for the future?
Of course! Thank you Peter for permitting us to have this great interview. We invite all the metalheads to visit ourMySpace page, to listen to our stuff and, if they like it, to buy our album... it will crush your skull! See you on 2012’s armageddon, HORNS UP!
