Nine Quick Ones to the melodic rock band, Bad Habit

1. -Hi, first off all I just want to congratulate you on your new album ‘Above And Beyond’.
Are you satisfied with it?

Bad Habit: Hey, thanx a lot.... It’s really nice to hear that you like the album...
Yes, I am very happy with the way it turned out – exactly the way I envisioned....

2. -It seems to me that you have taking a more melodic approach on your new album. But how would

you compare ‘Above And Beyond’ to your previous albums?

Bad Habit: We focused a lot on the sound and production on this album, as well as putting a lot of effort into the musical performances – striving for excellence but not trying to overdo things technically.
This approach resulted in a more ‘organic band sound’ then we've had before...

So all in all, the process has been more structured - but at the same time, the recording sessions and production have been more relaxed than ever before...

3. -‘Above and Beyond’ is packed with great songs but my favourite songs on your album could very well be the album opener “I Don’t Want you”,“Just a Heartbeat away” and “My Confession”.

Are there any songs on your new album that are special to you?

Bad Habit: Well, I of course become very close to the songs and it always takes me a while after the production, to ‘land’ in listening to the finished product but now – the songs I listen to the most are:

‘I Don’t Want You’, ‘Just A Heartbeat Away’, ‘Don’t Want To Say Goodbye’, ‘My Confession’ and ‘Let Me Tell You’....

4. -Were any songs scratched during the writing/recording process?

Bad Habit: Also, the songs went through a tough screening process before we started recording them – so the scratching took place early on..... A few were taken out...

5. -Do you have any gigs or tours planned at the moment, perhaps to promote ‘Above and Beyond’?

Bad Habit: We would love to play key gigs around Europe, or anywhere else where there is a demand to see the band and where the album has been received well. Ideally, we prefer the festival scene or venues that are keen on AOR… We’ll see how it goes – we will follow the reception of the new album carefully…

6. -Let's speculate - you have been granted a free slot on a tour of your own choice - who would be your ideal touring partners?

Bad Habit: Hmmm, hard to say really but of course we would definitely not say ‘no’ to opening for Journey, Def Leppard or Toto...  ; )

7. -What albums or bands do you believe have had the greatest impact on the history of Rock?

Bad Habit: Wow, now we’re getting in deep..... There are sooooo many great albums to choose from....

In general and on a broad scale, I would have to say bands like: The Beatles, ABBA, Led Zeppelin, Queen, Van Halen, Journey and U2 – have all made some pretty remarkable contributions to rock as a concept.... but like I said there are just so many great bands to choose from....

8. -How healthy do you think the Melodic Rock scene is at the moment?

Bad Habit: It seems that it’s going through a healthy growing period... which is of course nice.... Now, AOR bands just need better promo back-up in order to reach out further... to get the airplay on the major radio stations etc....

9. -Well, that’s it! Thanks a lot for the interview. –We at Powerofmetal.dk wish you all the best in the future to come. Anything you’d like to add to our readers?

Bad Habit: Many thanx for your time.... and to your readers I would say - keep on supporting AOR bands and hope you’ll all enjoy our new album.... Hope to see you somewhere.... soon....
