Interview with Michael Stützer, Artillery (July 24th 2009)

-Hi, first off all I just want to congratulate you with your brand new CD ‘When Death Comes’. Are you satisfied with it?

-Thanks!

We are very satisfied both with the songs, and the production. We're also feeling this is a very honest record! We really worked as band with this record. And hopefully this record will break new boundaries for Artillery.

-‘When Death Comes’ is one hell of an album in my opinion. How long did it take for you to write and record the songs?

-4 of the songs was finished in the around may, June and July in 2008 (Damned Religion, When Death Comes and the 2 “demo songs” Uniform and Delusions of Grandeur.

The songs Sandbox Philosophy and Chaos Ride (Bonus track on the Japanese version) was made in raw demo versions in 2007. The rest of the songs were made in the first month of 2009.

The recording process was done between the 2h of March to 4th of April  on the working days!

-“10.000 Devils” could very well be my favourite track on your new album. Are there any songs that are special to you?

-I really like most of the songs, maybe my favourite song is “Upon My Cross I Crawl” but it changes all the time!

-New singer Søren Adamsen is doing a great job in my humble opinion. But what about Flemming Rønsdorf... do you still have any contact with him?

-We are extremely satisfied with Søren, both as a singer and as a friend! No none of us speak with Flemming any more!

-Who came up with the fantastic artwork?

-It was an idea from the band, done by an artist who works with Metal Mind.

His name is Graal!

-What are the future plans for ARTILLERY?

-We will tour as much as possible and do a new record in 2010!

-How healthy to you think the thrash metal scene is nowadays?

-I think there are a lot of new young thrashers out there, who is starting to get into the scene and that's great. Also a lot of new young bands are starting to move on the Danish scene (Essence, Hideous Invasion, Impaler's, Unbelief etc!

-Can you please name some of your favourite bands as well as albums that have impressed you lately?

-Some of the bands (there is many):

Black Sabbath all albums

Exodus - Bounded by Blood

Metallica - Master of Puppets

Grand Funk Railroad - E Pluribus Funk

Slayer - Reign in Blood

Jethro Tull - Aqualong

Savatage - Sirens

And so on...

I thank you very much for participating in this interview and sharing this information and your thoughts with us - these last lines are entirely for you. Any final words you would like to round off with - a tip, a recommendation or a thought for the future?

-Thanks!

We really want to thank for all the support from all you guys out there!

Hope you will buy the new record!
