On the rack: Nik from Nachtgeschrei

Wretched sinner, tell us about your latest deeds of evil and spite, “Ardeo”!

Hi, Nik from Nachtgeschrei here. I didn't expect the Spanish Inquisition – but then again, nobody does, right? We just released our third album titled ”Ardeo”, so we are looking forward to playing the new stuff live. Ardeo features eleven tracks of medieval-folk-metal. This time we wanted to make a record that shows all aspects of Nachtgeschrei, so we have rocking stuff right next to thoughtful ballads. It's a very diverse album and, in my opinion, our best so far. The cover artwork is once again done bautifully by Travis Smith of Seempieces.

You fiend! You intend to tour the world with this devilish noise, don't you?!

Sure. We're about to do a club-tour in spring, followed by some festival shows in the summer. In October we'll be supporting Subway to Sally on their fall-tour, so we'll have quite a busy year ahead.

I reckon you have many ungodly stories from your sinful tours. You might as well give us the worst story since we're preparing to fry you anyway!

Oh, there are quite a few things from broken doors to broken busses. When we're on the road we are nine blokes, quite a wild bunch. So sometimes things get a bit out of hand, something gets broken, someone disappears for an hour or two and sometimes we don't really remember how we ended up in bed. Anyway, my worst sin most certainly was, is and will be playing the bagpipes. It's the ultimate instrument from hell.

Oh, you are indeed a wretch! If we had not caught you, what would you and your cohordes have done now? Recorded even more of your fiendish rattling?

Well, since we just released our latest album we want to play the new stuff live as much as possible. We just started collecting new material for a fourth album, but since we'll be rather busy touring and songwriting this year we will take ourselves some time with the next recording – let's hope we get it done in 2012.

Damnations! You are beyond redemption. Name the five musical pieces that you want to bring with you when we send you to hell!

If I had to choose, I'd recommend spending some time in down below with:
Opeth – Blackwater Park
Metallica – Master of Puppets
Pink Floyd – Wish you were here
Amorphis – Eclipse
Mike Oldfield – Five Miles Out (not much metal, but I'm loving it)
for everyone else, I'd recommend taking our latest one, ”Ardeo”, with them!

See you, cheers
Nik
