On the rack: Mathias Nygård from Turisas | |
Wretched sinner, tell us about your latest deeds of evil and spite, Stand Up and Fight!
Mathias: It's picking up the story of the previous “The Varangian Way” and follows the adventures of our travellers in the so called Varangian Guard – a mercenary force in the Byzantine Army. We started working on it in 2009 and recording took almost all of 2010, so we really invested a lot of time and effort in it. It's not a Varangian Way pt. 2, as we think it's important not to just repeat the formula from the past, but to find new ways of creativity. |
| You fiend! You intend to tour the world with this devilish noise, don't you?!
| Mathias: Absolutely. As we speak, we've already been on the road for a good three months. We started out with Mexico followed by North-America in January, and right now we are on the last week of European touring here in Germany. Before the summer we'll still be doing a tour of Iberia and then it's time to hit the festivals. In autumn, we're doing the Heidenfest-festival tour, going back to the US, and surely a lot of other stuff too, so YES, one could say that we have plans for touring... I suggest you check out www.turisas.com for a full listing |
| Oh, you are indeed a wretch! If we had not caught you, what would you and your cohordes have done now? Recorded even more of your fiendish rattling?
| Mathias: What the fuck does that even mean? Probably be getting on with our tour and not wasting our time on wankers like you. |
| Damnations! You are beyond redemption. Name the five musical pieces that you want to bring with you when we send you to hell!
