On the rack: Travis Ryan from Cattle Decapitation

1. -Hi, first off all I just want to congratulate you on your new album ‘The Harvest Floor’. Are you satisfied with it?

Travis: Thanks! Yes, we're pretty satisfied with it for the most part. There are always things I would and could change but each record we put out have less and less of those things. I think the guys did a hell of a job on this one!

2. -You sound more Death Metal and more technical than ever to me. Do you agree with me?

Travis: Well, I guess so. If you ask me, the more "death metal" sounding stuff, as far as traditional death metal, lies more in To Serve Man and Humanure. But to me, Karma and the new one are much more interesting. Much more technical as well. We progress from record to record so that makes sense!

3. -Do you have any gigs or tours planned at the moment, perhaps to promote ‘The Harvest Floor’?

Travis: Yes, we're doing tons of US touring coming up. We had to pass on a Euro tour with Origin unfortunately because the plane tickets were too much, but we plan to come out there as soon as possible. We promise not to wait as long as we did last time! We will be out there as soon as we can! Probably after the festival season.

4. -Let's speculate - you have been granted a free slot on a tour of your own choice - who would be your ideal touring partners?

Travis: Carcass. Hands down. With Suffocation and no fucking deathcore bands.

5. -What albums or bands do you believe have had the greatest impact on the history of Metal?

Travis: Well, for our style, I'd say Carcass for sure. But of course Black Sabbath and Metallica probably have had the biggest impact of all. The song Black Sabbath I think created death metal. It just took years to incubate.

-Well, that’s it! Thanks a lot for the interview. –We at Powerofmetal.dk wish you all the best in the future to come. Anything you’d like to add to our readers?

Travis: Why can't all interviews be like this! hahaha.. Thanks!
