On the rack: Pete Ahonen from Burning Point
1.-Hi, first off all I just want to congratulate you on your new album ‘Empyre’. Are you satisfied with it?
- Thank you very much! Oh yes, we’re 110% satisfied for the outcome. Jussi and Jukka did a perfect job in the final mixing and to top it all, great mastering in the Finnvox Studios :)
2. --It seems to me that you have taking a more melodic approach on your new album. But how would you compare ‘Empyre’ to your previous albums?
- That might be the case yes, but we never sit down and discuss what type of songs we’re going to write this time or should we take the music to any direction, you know ? The songs are what they are, very honest melodic metal songs : ) I think Empyre is more “back to the roots” album, but as I said it was not intended. You’ll never know what comes to the next album, although I’ve already written 5 new songs, as long as it is in the “boundaries” of Melodic Heavy Metal ha ha.
3. -Do you have any gigs or tours planned at the moment, perhaps to promote ‘Empyre’?
- Yes, we have some gigs with our fellow label mates,
4. -Let's speculate - you have been granted a free slot on a tour of your own choice - who would be your ideal touring partners?
- We are very open minded so, everything goes :) Of course it would be nice if the bands are in the same genre, but otherwise…everything’s cool!
5. -What albums or bands do you believe have had the greatest impact on the history of Metal?
Very difficult question…Hmm, I guess Deep Purple, Black Sabbath and all those giants.
-Well, that’s it! Thanks a lot for the interview. –We at Powerofmetal.dk wish you all the best in the future to come. Anything you’d like to add to our readers?
- Thank you for the questions and also big thanks for all the fans out there! We hope that you’ll love the new album and hopefully see you in gigs!
